This Week | Coffee, Favs and the Calm
Hai.
I miss doing weekly recap posts and while I have on and off feelings about doing them on wordpress, I figure it’ll be fine. Maybe. Whatever, I won’t worry about that right now!
I’ve been spending too much time on my Substack and I figured I’d pop in here and show my face for a bit.
I love looking back at these, for myself. Archiving my life has been a thing — well my whole life. Stay awhile, maybe you’ll find something you’ll love in these posts. Life is too short to not discover your next new favorite!

Reading | Belladonna by Adalyn Grace
I finished a book! I finished a book! I hate how I went from reading 4-6 books a month to being excited when I finish one. Ugh, adulthood is a scam, I swear.
I started Belladonna a few months ago and put it down but decided to pick it up and finish it as part of my Oct TBR Challenge (that is yes, still missing a blog post) and I don’t regret it. I’m such a sucker for books that personify Death as a character. I’m always so curious about the concept of who is the Grim Reaper. The way authors can spin his character and make him seem more human.
I blame my ex husband for my fixation on the Grim Reaper.
Belladonna is such a captivating read with an ending I WAS NOT EXPECTING. I immediately went and bought the second book as soon as I finished it. I may not finish the second one for the challenge but holy fuck I can’t wait to get into it!
Gaming | Foodie Sizzle + Zen Word
I’ve had Zen Word on my device(s) for awhile now. I finally got into it trying to cure the itch to do a word search and I’m feeling anything but zen, but more on that later or on my gaming blog because ya’ll… jfc. I can’t stop playing it though! That’s the worst part lol!
Foodie Sizzle was an ad that I was given and I was captivated with how cute the graphics are. I’m always up for a new puzzle game, they’re my favorite way to exercise my brain — I blame my dad for teaching me how to play Tetris and FreeCell — I played Foodie Sizzle legit the whole time I was in the ER waiting room and in the ER room waiting lol! It definitely took my mind off the why I was in the ER for sure. It’s so much fun and challenging, I’m on level 56 now and this round is so freakin hard. I try to make it harder on myself and not use any help or items or anything.
Watching | Rewatching Schitt’s Creek
I really wanted to start Only Murders In The Building but I needed a comfort show to have in the background while trying to regulate my nervous system and landed on Schitt’s Creek. Before that I was watching Sword Art Online. I should be re-watching Fairy Tail since it’s been awhile but I couldn’t find it at the moment so I settled for SAO. The fact I’m making time to watch anything in itself is an accomplishment.
I’ll start something new this week, for sure.
I’m also one of those people who will watch stuff like The Good Place when they really want to question their mortality lol.
Listening To | twilight zone by Ariana Grande
I’m such a huge Ariana Grande fan — so much that I named my youngest after her, no joke. twilight zone came on randomly, I tend to pick a song and let Spotify make a playlist off that for me. It’s one of my favorite ways to discover new music. I was struck by how calming and chill twilight zone was, everything about it is so zen and ethereal almost.
Nonsense by Sabrina Carpenter has also been on heavy repeat and Cancelled! by Taylor Swift is probably the only song I see myself replaying from The Life of a Showgirl. I’m not too into Tay’s new album, but I don’t know, maybe it just needs time to grow on me.
Die For You by The Weekend + Ariana Grande has been on heavy repeat all year. I just discovered the version with Grande and I love it so much more.
Swatching | r.e.m beauty Wicked Ozian Forest Eyeshadow Palette
Ariana + Wicked? Uh yes, duh. My husband gifted me this a few days after it dropped and I’ve been swatching and looking at it nonstop. I have the first one she released and I haven’t used it yet. I don’t think I even swatched it. The box has flying monkeys on it and I just can’t stomach the thought of ruining it. I know, fuckin strange right?
I’m not sure if I’d say the shades in Ozian Forest gives me Ozian forest vibes. I kind of wish there was a red for the apples, but I can see how that may had thrown off the whole vibe of the palette as well. We can only hope maybe someone will. I do plan on picking up the rest of the collection, but I’m so excited to have my hands on this palette.
Wearing | MAC Glow Play Tendertalk Lip Balm in Vibe
Tendertones were a thing in like 2007 and they were in pot form. I loved them. I was so sad when they phased them out. When they released the Tendertalk lip balm I grabbed it as soon as it was released. I have like 4 or 5 scattered around at this point and I use them as my night time lip balm, under my lipstick, just when I want a comforting scent. Is it excessive to pay that much for a sense of comfort? Maybe. But hey, I regret nothing.
Actually I’m going to apply some right now, yum!
Eating | Avocado Bagel + Smoked Salmon & Iced Coffee
I’m a sucker for a good Avocado Toast esp if it has interesting toppings. I went on Pinterest to find ones to make for myself since the one I ordered from Panera one morning was a bit of a fail and it triggered an allergy.
I decided to make myself a Avo Bagel (I love bagel sandwiches) and topped it with tomato and a Smoked Salmon I decided to give a try from Whole Foods… I’m obsessed. I legit went back and ate a few more pieces out of the package. OMG so good. So mad it went out of stock.
Loving | Halloween . Advent . Calendars
I never really got advent calendars growing up so I started getting myself them when I was able to get them for myself. I love the concept of advent calendars and I try not to spoil what’s in them, key word is try.
I stumbled on the Disney one randomly during a Target run and they’re so cute! I was thinking of doing a daily unboxing but that didn’t turn out the way I wanted, so maybe I’ll just do a week recap for those as well. I also got the Williams Sonoma one because I love their snacks.
I love the idea that stuff like this isn’t for just Christmas but inching into Halloween too.
Take what you need from today’s post, and leave the rest with grace. I’ll meet you again next week with another cup of calm.
I’d love for you to share what things you were loving this week in the comments below.
